March 24, 2005: Pantone® colors

I’ve had many people email me and ask about support for Pantone® colors. Sadly, the short answer is “not possible”. Pantone® is a color library, and as such, does not have a method to directly convert RGB colors into Pantone®. I’ve seen a few sites that have tables of Pantone® equivalents, but are merely approximations.

I’m thinking about other ideas on how to implement it.

Just wanted to say that I'm glad this is back, seemed not to have worked these past days. This is my number one color scheme source, I dont like any of the other ones. Thanks for making such an awesome tool!

Actually, my new version of my original ColorMatch 5K tool - now named "ColorBlender" - provide the option of "converting" a chosen RGB color to a PANTONE color number.

Best regards,
Kim Jensen - author of the original ColorMatch :-)
