January 06, 2005: Back up and running!

Well, everything seems to be working - the layout is a little different from the previous one, but that’s okay. (grin) I’ve checked everything, and it all seems to be functional. The new server is running nice and smooth!

You see, when the old server went down, due to that nasty little worm, I decided it was time to get a proper server, rather than just host it off a machine in my house. So, voila! The downside to this, is that it’s now costing me about $150 a month more for the server.

Alas, now I need to come up with more income. The Google ads are doing okay, but I can’t count on them. Same with donations - I’ve had a few, but not enough to make ends meet.

So here’s what I can do - If you’re in need of some hosting, on a dedicated server (it’s mine, all mine!), drop me a line. I’m thinking, $10 a month for 200 megs of space, with Mysql/PHP/Perl, and domain hosting, on a 2.8G P4 system. Oh yes - I don’t have any bandwidth limits, so why should you?

Dude I set up your colormatch thing on my website, and when I try to save my color scheme, it gives me some bogus error. What's the deal?

Twyst at January 20, 2005 03:31 AM

Well, it might help to actually explain what the error is. Emailing me with the details will probably work best.

Hehe, continuing on the offtopic discussion, I'd suggest that you make a small forum on the site for discussing implementing and developing colormixers, so people won't do it like this. ;)
I'd recommend PunBB( http://www.punbb.org/ ) as a lightwheight sollution, and not as popular as PhpBB = more secure.

Love your work with the colorschemer and i'd be good if you'd applied it to your own website too, since this gray is a bit, well...

Best. Web-app. Ever.

I've used it as a catalyst to create themes for all sorts of applications, from Websites, CD Covers, Premium Horse Food Packaging, Business Cards, to Animations and Photography (backdrops, makeup, post production colour changes).

Much love.

This site is gray for a reason - for a while, it was a nice shade of orange, but people complained because it distracted from the colormixer, and made it hard to choose colors.

I actually like the gray - very clean.

As for the forum idea (which I agree with), I would suggest SMF (www.simplemachines.org) instead. I've got it running on 4 sites and have influenced it's use on at least 3 more ... it's free, open-source, and OH so simple to install, theme, mod, and customize.

Just my 2c ... I love your ColorMixer and use it constantly for theme color ideas :)
